Valentine’s Day Stained Glass Shortbread Cookies

I remember making these cookies when I was a child & it has always stuck with me! Now that I’m a mom with a little girl old enough to help, I thought it was the perfect time to introduce her to these fun stained glass cookies!

I got everything I needed for these at our local Walmart! Click here to see it all!

You can use any shortbread recipe you want! They’re all fairly similar, I used one from Ahead of Thyme.

Make your dough according to the directions & chill if directed. Then roll them out like instructed in the recipe, use heart shaped cookie cutters to cut out your hearts and then transfer them to a cookie sheet lined with a silicone baking mat. Then cut a smaller heart out of the center for the stained glass!

Put your pan in the fridge to chill while you get the Jolly Ranchers ready.

Separate them by color and put them in a zip top bag. Then using the flat side of a meat mallet or rolling pin, pound them until they are broken into small pieces, set aside.

After your cookies have chilled for 10 minutes or as long as directed, put a small amount of crushed Jolly Ranchers in the center of each cookie. Then bake as directed! Let them cool COMPLETELY before removing from the pan.

I also found these super cute Valentines treat kits at Walmart that are perfect for gifting!
