Hard boiled eggs were one of those things that I always had to look up how to cook whenever I needed to make them & half the time they were great! And the other half of the time, not so great… So when I came across this method & tried it, I loved how easy and simple it was! No longer was I going to Google to tell me how to boil eggs because I could remember this method after a couple times of using it!

Another amazing thing about this method is that it makes the eggs WAY easier to peel. If you have your own laying chickens or buy farm fresh eggs, then you probably know how hard they can be to peel because they’re so fresh. This is the best way I have found to be able to peel them without totally destroying them in the process.

This “recipe” will cook as many eggs as you want, up until you totally fill your Instant Pot! I’ve cooked as few as 6 and as many as 24, but I know I could do more!

To start, put the trivet that came with your Instant Pot in the bottom of the pot & add in your eggs. Then pour in 1 cup of water.

Close the lid & make sure the valve is set to “sealing”. Set the pressure to High and for 6 minutes. Then you let it be until you hear the timer go off! It will take a little bit to come to pressure, then cook for 6 minutes. After that it will stop cooking them & naturally release pressure as it cools down. Let it release for 6 minutes & then manually release the pressure. After the pressure is released & the lid is removed, transfer the eggs to a large bowl of ice water. Ice cubes work best, but if you’re out of it, ice packs work great too! Just throw them in the cold water when the eggs are done cooking & starting to release pressure so the water has time to cool down.

Let them sit in the ice water for at least 6 minutes, but often I’ll leave them longer. After cooling down, remove them to a towel & dry them off.

Now is the easiest time to peel the eggs! Especially if they’re fresh eggs. Burt they still peel without much fuss after being refrigerated.

Something that my mom always did when she boiled eggs, and something that I do now, is mark the eggs with a Sharpie so I know that they’re boiled and not raw when I see them in the fridge. We have a small fridge, so I often will put them back in an egg carton that also has fresh eggs, so it’s nice to know right away which ones are boiled and which are not!

After marking them & if you’re not going to eat them right away, just store in the fridge until you are!
